Presence & Attention
Presence is not something to reach.
It is not a state to maintain.
It appears when attention is no longer elsewhere.
Most of the time, attention moves.
It shifts between thoughts, memories, and expectations.
This movement is not a mistake.
Presence is not the result of stopping that movement.
It is what remains when attention is no longer elsewhere.
Attention does not need to be managed.
It does not need to be improved or directed.
It settles on its own when it is not asked to go somewhere else.
Presence is not created by effort.
It is noticed when effort softens.
This does not mean clarity.
It does not mean calm.
It simply means being here without trying to be somewhere better.
Attention may still wander.
Thought may still appear.
Presence does not exclude any of this.
It includes what is already happening.
Nothing needs to be fixed for presence to be felt.
Nothing needs to change.
Attention stays when it is allowed to stay.
That is all.
